This 8 day long residential course will give you an in-depth understanding of the UK higher education system. You will experience a mixture of lectures, workshops and field trips to actual institutions as well as sightseeing of places such as London, Norwich and Manchester that will familiarise you different aspects of the country. The six different universities on the programme have been selected to give you varied impressions from the ancient to the brand new, and from the small to the very large. This invaluable programme will equip you to make a fully informed choice about the important choice you may be about to make on studying in the country.
Highlights include:
• Residential accommodation and class space provided at Cambridge University, home to one of the oldest and best universities in the world. Founded in 1209, the alumni of Cambridge include 85 Nobel laureates, 15 prime ministers and 23 heads of government or state!
• Fully structured lessons on study options, course fees, student life in the UK, institution types and application processes.
• Tour of Cambridge, including university institutions, a visit of King’s College Chapel and punting on the Cam.
• Full day visit to London, including enjoy half-day sightseeing of the capital including outside stops at Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Also visit London University – the country’s largest – with 19 university institutions, 12 research institutes and 175,000 students.
• Tour of the fine medieval city of Norwich with its stunning Norman cathedral and half-timbered houses. The city was once the second most important in the country and is home to the University of East Anglia, a pleasant 1960s campus university that is ranked joint first for student satisfaction in the United Kingdom.
• Tour of University Campus Suffolk, a dynamic institute located in brand new facilities on the waterfront at Ipswich. It was founded in 2007 and offers a modern contrast to other institutions you will see. UCS is particularly keen to attract Chinese students to study here.
• Visit to Nottingham University, with its pleasant and green campus. The university dates back to the late 1700s, although most of its pleasant green campus was built in the 1920s. Nottingham is a sizeable university (fifth in the UK) with 33000 students. You will drive through the famous Nottingham Forest of Robin Hood fame to get here.
• Full day visit to the important mercantile city of Manchester, home to a so-called “Red Brick” university dating back to the 1800s. With 40,000 students it is a popular place to study. You will also see Old Trafford, home of Man United soccer team.
